Failure Leads to Success
by, Corey Wells

Wherever you see success you’ll almost always not see the failure that accompanied that success. One of the most famous examples of this is Thomas Edison was working on the light bulb, a reporter found out that Edison had created 10,000 different versions and still could not get it to work. The reporter asked Edison, “How can you keep going after failing 10,000 times? Isn’t that a little ridiculous? Why don’t you just give up?” Edison answered, “You don’t understand, I haven’t failed 10,000 times, I’ve simply succeeded in finding 10,000 ways that definitely won’t work.”

We often fear failure because we view it as an expression of our own self worth. We sometimes think it shows that we’re an inadequate person or we’re bound for a life of mediocrity. However, this is simply not true. Failure, if anything, means that we now have an opportunity to learn. We tried and it didn’t work. So we need to find a different way to proceed until we can master the task at hand. Don’t let one failure deter you from trying something else.

Those who understand the learning opportunity presented by failure, like Edison, look forward to failures because of what they can teach you about yourself and your inner resiliency. When a failure occurs, look at it objectively and ask yourself why. Did you not do everything you could have? Can you retry it from a different angle, or with another mindset? Keep working and you will eventually achieve a favorable result. If you stop learning from your experiences, then you truly have failed.

Becoming Your Own Person - Corey Wells

Becoming Your Own Person
by, Corey Wells

There comes a time in every successful person’s life when they must stop relying on others and become their own person. The need to establish ourselves as individuals is a necessary and important part of life. This is what drives us to move out of our parent’s home, start our own business and pay our own way in life. The process begins when we decide to become our own authority figure. This requires us to make some pivotal decisions which will set us on a specific path for the rest of our lives.

The methods we choose to initiate this process will determine the type of person we’ll become. Some are so desperate to be on their own that they may compromise their integrity to do so. Personal integrity will help determine your path in life. At certain points in life you’ll be faced with challenging decisions and you’ll need to be guided by your own sense of what is right, and your personal integrity. It’s important to always look at what things mean to you, the people around you and the universe as a whole. You get to choose what is right for you, but there is a cost to breaking your own personal integrity.

If you break your own integrity you may find yourself faced with anxiety or panic attacks latter on in life. You may find that the law of cause and effect will have the things you have chosen to do come back to you in unexpected ways. There is always a price to pay for your actions, sometimes we don’t know that price until it is too late. By living and choosing our own personal integrity we can easily pick the path for our life and stand by our decisions.

When the time comes for you to become your own person, what type of person will you be. One who will do anything necessary to succeed no matter what the cost, or one who will proceed with integrity and kindness toward those who have offered you support and put you in the position to choose. The choices you make will set the tone for the rest of your life. What will you choose?

Adversity Leads to Growth - Corey Wells

Adversity Leads to Growth
by, Corey Wells

We are all human beings that share a common disturbing reality. At some point in our lives we will experience adversity and the resulting pain it causes. Try as we might to hide it, no human being is exempt from this reality. We all must face daily failings and disappointments, and deal with unforeseen circumstances. Everyone has made their fair share of errors and mistakes, but we don’t have to surrender to life’s hardships. It’s not the adversity that matters, but rather, how we deal with it.

Keep in mind that adversity has no life of its own. It only has the energy we give it. The key to dealing with our problems is to first bring them into perspective. Do our adversities really matter in the grand scheme of our lives? When we are in the midst of our own adversities, we tend believe that our problems are the most important problems in the world. Even though our adversities may be important to us, there will always be someone who is dealing with an even worse problem. Once we begin to achieve this realization, we can start to deal with, learn from, and grow through our adversity.

Since problems will always continue to arise now and then, we must not forget that there is something we can learn from every difficult situation. This can’t be over emphasized. If you’re unhappy with where you find yourself in life, then think about what lesson can be learned from this experience. Are you unhappy with your current financial situation, then what needs to be done to improve it? This is the secret for growing through your adversity. When you began to look at it as a true learning opportunity, you can begin to turn adversity into an advantage. Adversity is not an easy thing to deal with, but by doing so, you’ll be able to grow the virtuous qualities within yourself, and develop the inner strength to deal with any future problems.

Fear of Success
by, Corey Wells

You may wonder why anyone would be fearful of success. Most people that have this fear have no idea that this is what’s holding them back. If you find yourself not achieving the level of success you deserve you might want to look closely at this fear.

Why would someone be fearful of success? The fear of success could also be called the fear of change. Some people feel that by achieving more it will mean less time for them, and more hours of work. Some people feel really comfortable where they are in life and do not want things to change. Don’t get comfortable. When you feel things are changing get excited! You’re learning and growing and coming one step closer to reaching your goals.

The fear of success may also be because you don’t feel you deserve to be successful. There is no quick fix for this problem. You’ll need to analyze what you want to achieve from life. In some cases therapy can be helpful for breaking through what’s really keeping you back.

Don’t let the fear of success hold you back. Keep moving forward, and you’ll slowly stop preventing yourself from achieving. Build a simple plan and follow it. If you can plan out the steps you need to take to achieve what you want, it’s just a matter of following your plan.

The Fear of Rejection - Corey Wells

The Fear of Rejection
by Corey Wells

The fear of rejection is the most common fear. The best way to overcome the fear of rejection is to face it daily. Don’t avoid activities where you may feel rejection or you will never know what you can achieve.

Make a commitment to face rejection and stick with the activities that will lead you to success despite your fear. Everyday your sensitivity to this fear will slowly dissipate. You will be amazed how much easier it gets and how rejection is not something to be taken so personally. Just stick with it.

This is easier said then done. But the best way to overcome any fear is outright exposure to it. Therapists are now recommending exposure therapy for all sorts of fears and phobias. If you’re afraid of heights, you should stand near the edge of a high place. Wait until your fear slowly dissipates. If you’re afraid of spiders you should slowly increase your exposure to spiders. The idea is after exposure to the thing, or situation, you will gradually lose this fear. This also applies to anything fear that’s holding you back.

Fear of Embarrassment - Corey Wells

Fear of Embarrassment
by, Corey Wells

Let’s face it, in life, you will run into embarrassing situations. You will trip on your tongue and say something silly or do something dumb. Keep in mind this will happen and that’s ok, its part of life! Time and experience can help you talk around embarrassing situations.

Often times we have situations were we know there is the potential to feel embarassed. I have people I coach that have situations like this all the time. The best way to overcome it is to feel prepared. If you feel like you can handle any situation you’ll feel comfortable.

So, how do you get yourself prepared. What I do, is try and role play with my clients every possible scenario they may encounter in the embarrassing situation. I get them to the a point where they feel bulletproof. Once they get down the verbal “Kung Fu” it’s just a matter of getting out there and making it happen. It’s really just that easy.

The Fear of Failure

The Fear of Failure
by, Corey Wells

The fear of failure comes from our ego. We are afraid to disappoint ourselves, people we work with or are family and friends. Realizing that this fear has more to do with our ego can help you get rid of this fear forever. Nothing in life is more important than moving in the direction of our dreams and failure is a large part of that process. It has been said that our success in life is in direct proportion to the amount of failure we can accept without giving up.

To eliminate this fear focus on your goals. Stay positive and focused on what you want and don’t worry what other say or do. Stay on course with the activities that will lead you to success.

Remember, don’t let your fears stop you. Moving beyond where you are initially fearful is the biggest key to your success! You can do it!

Today’s Thought: You become what you think about!

Corey Wells No Comments »

Today’s Thought: You become what you think about!
by Corey Wells

You become what you think about… This great phrase was said by Earl Nightingale in his fantastic recording “The Strangest Secret.” It has been said many times in many different ways over the course of mankind but no matter how you say it, the message remains the same. What we think about becomes a reality in our lives.

What this means is, if we constantly tell ourselves things like, “Things never work out for me!” or “I’ll never make more money!” or “I can’t do that!” This will turn out to be the truth!
Whatever your consistent thoughts are, good, bad or indifferent, that is what you can usually expect as the outcome.

So, if your life can be controlled by your thoughts, why not pick the thoughts you want to have? For instance, tell yourself “Good things always happen to me!” Or tell yourself, “I can do anything I set my mind to, no matter what it is. If I want it I’ll get it!”

When you feed your mind with positive thoughts you have the ability to shape and control your destiny.
